A VPP is a software-and-hardware system that combines various generation sources and energy storage units (e.g., solar panels and BESS systems) into a single, controlled network. It enables centralized control over energy production and consumption, as well as selling excess power or providing ancillary services on the energy market.
You can earn additional income by selling excess energy or offering balancing services. You also gain opportunities to optimize consumption, use stored energy more efficiently, and better manage peak loads.
BESS stores excess energy when generation exceeds consumption. It can later release energy during peak demand or sell it on the market. Within a VPP, BESS systems are centrally managed, increasing supply reliability and generating additional revenue.
If your inverter supports standard communication protocols (e.g., MQTT), no extra device may be needed. If it’s outdated or lacks communication features, a communication adapter (~$150) will be required to integrate with the VPP.
All VPP-connected systems are monitored in real time. The platform forecasts generation and consumption and sells excess energy or balancing services. Profits are shared proportionally based on your contribution, with payouts following an agreed schedule.
